As the seasons change, our horse’s coat changes too.
To ensure your horse transitions from a winter woolly to a summer smoothie here are our top tips:
1. Remove excess hair daily.
2. Use a specialist grooming tool to aid the shedding process.
3. Grooming tools that will make the job easier are a curry comb, shedding blade, rubber grooming block.
4. Remove hair daily from saddle pads and rugs to prevent build up that will make it itchy and uncomfortable for your horse to wear.
5. Don’t wear lip gloss while grooming your horse!! 😝🐴
6. Wear gloves and protective eye glasses.
7. If there’s a bit of a breeze when removing your horses winter fur, put a fly mask on your horse so he doesn’t get excess hair in his eyes.
8. Make sure to stay up-wind of any loose hair caught in the wind. Even though its inevitable you will get hair caught in your clothing, you can minimize it this way!
9. Brush your clothing down with a rubber grooming block.
